Photo by hellokrisdavidson | The Kelso Dune Field in the Mojave Desert in California is a truly magical place comprised of about 45 square miles (117 square kilometers) of quartz and feldspar dunes, some rising as tall as 650 feet (200 meters). Climbing up feels Sisyphean, going up a few feet only to slide back a few more. But it is worth it to reach the top for sunset to see the Mojave Desert splayed out below and sand shimmering off the top of the dune ridge in the wind. Going down takes mere minutes and feels like flying, with your bare feet glancing off the soft sand. #Kelso #Mojave #California
